We spent this Mother’s Day at the Balboa Yacht Club in Corona del Mar, setting up a full day of fun for families enjoying lunch at the club. With over 75 kids expected throughout the day, the team at the yacht club wanted something engaging and safe that gave parents a break and kids a great way to play. Our large bounce house and soft play setup turned out to be the perfect fit.
How It Came Together
Sarah from the yacht club reached out after seeing one of our previous setups at the same location. She knew what the space could handle and wanted a setup that looked clean and soft but still exciting for kids. Since this was a family event centered around Mother’s Day, we decided to keep the colors light and festive — mostly pinks and whites — to complement the holiday without clashing with the upscale setting of the club.
Our team worked closely with Sarah over email to figure out the right layout and which products would offer the best flow for the large number of kids attending. We landed on our larger bounce house, full soft play package, and a separate circular ball pit. The goal was to create a designated space where children could play safely and freely while their parents relaxed nearby.
Setup on the Courtyard
We arrived early that morning to begin setting up in the courtyard lawn area. We always start with the essentials — laying out mats and positioning the largest elements first. Once the bounce house was in place, we made sure all wires were safely tucked away and taped down. Then came the soft play structures, ball pit, and final details.
After the full layout was arranged, we gave every surface a thorough wipe-down. This step is a non-negotiable for us — especially at events with younger children who’ll be crawling and climbing. Once everything was sanitized, we filled the ball pit and bounce house pit with fresh, clean balls. The layout had plenty of room for both play and adult supervision, so parents could comfortably stand nearby and watch. We even added a few cute umbrellas to give them shade during the warm afternoon hours.
Smooth Day, No Surprises
Thankfully, we didn’t run into any major challenges. The weather was perfect — sunny but not too hot — and the courtyard space was just the right size for the setup. Since Sarah was familiar with the dimensions of the area, everything was measured out ahead of time and there were no spacing issues or last-minute adjustments needed. It’s always a relief when the logistics fall into place like that.
Happy Kids, Happy Families
Throughout the day, families came in and out for lunch, and the play area was constantly busy with smiling kids. A lot of the dads took on chaperone duty while the moms enjoyed time with other guests. Many of them arrived holding bouquets for moms and grandmothers, and the energy was really sweet and celebratory.
We got to chat with a few parents who thanked us for being there — some were curious about our setups and asked about future bookings. It was a great opportunity to introduce ourselves to new families in the area, all while keeping a close eye on the play zone and making sure everyone was having a safe, fun time.
Why This One Stood Out
This event wasn’t about over-the-top decor or a big birthday bash. It was about creating a space where the entire family — especially the moms — could enjoy the day. Kids got to burn off some energy, parents had a chance to connect with each other, and we were proud to play a small part in making the experience more enjoyable for everyone. Sometimes, the most meaningful events are the ones that feel easy and thoughtful — and this was definitely one of those.
